James Cameron walks the future site of Avatar-land with Joe Rhode and Tom Staggs

When Disney parks chair Tom Staggs announced a partnership with James Cameron to bring Avatar to Disney’s Animal Kingdom , I sort of assumed that Cameron and his production partner Jon Landau had already toured the park with its chief creative influence Joe Rhode.

Disney Worker dies after injuries from accident at Primeval Whirl in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The Primeval Whirl roller coaster at Disney’s Animal Kingdom added another chapter to its troubled history after a worker injured Sunday while doing repair work on the attraction died today. That worker, identified as 52-year old Russell Roscoe of Webster, FL, died in the hospital this morning. Roscoe’s family and co-workers at Disney are in the thoughts of everyone at The Disney Blog

G’Day Mate! Australia coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

I first reported on the development of a new land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom based on the continent of Australia back in October of 2007 . It was shortly after that when the housing bubble popped for good and the house of cards banks had built on home mortgages came tumbling down threatening to take the world’s economy with it. At that point Disney turtled and postponed a number of projects until a time when the economy returned to better.
