John Lasseter on BBC talks about Making Animated Films and Toy Story 4 Rumors

There’s a 2 minute video over on the BBC website with John Lasseter, director of Pixar’s Cars 2 and studio animation chief, talking about the process of making an animated film. Nothing new there really, but interesting how he compares it to ‘live action’ film making. The clip is also notable for a brief deflection by Lasseter when asked about Toy Story 4, as announced by Tom Hanks.

Animator Andreas Deja, still works with Disney on certain projects, but is no longer a full time animator for the Mouse House, has hung out his internet shingle in form of a blog. Deja View is still in rough form, but it’s there. Hopefully someone will give him some formatting advice, show him Blogspot’s WYSIWYG interface, and then set him free

A new story in the New York Times Carpetbagger blog , which focuses on the entertainment scene, reads half like a puff piece for Pixar and half like plea from animators who feel like Rodney Dangerfield, they just can’t get no respect. The Pixar team would dearly love to win a best picture Oscar

Toy Story 3 – Disney’s Circle Seven Version

Think back to the days when there was a real possibility that Pixar would leave the Disney family due to bad feelings created when executives at Disney attempted to push the boys from Emeryville around. It was pretty touch and go there for awhile, but Disney execs felt they held a trump card that would bring Pixar back to the negotiation table no matter how hard they pushed. That trump card was the rights to produce a third Toy Story film apart from Pixar.
