I’ve read a lot of business books in my time, but the one that sticks with me the most is Tom Peter’s revolutionary “ In Search of Excellence: Lessons from America’s Best-Run Companies .” The lessons I learned therein have served me well in nearly every aspect of my career. As it happens the practices of the Walt Disney Company, with Michael Eisner and Frank Wells recently placed in charge, were a central focus of the book. It would be more than another decade, and the tragic loss of Wells, before Eisner lost his way and took the company with it

Pixar Story Folk called for consult on Muppet Movie

Stories recently circulated that Pixar had been called in to help tighten up some scenes in TRON: Legacy and even rewrote a few pick up shots. Now that same crew is being brought in much earlier in the process with a reading of the Muppet Movie script up at the Emeryville Studio. The Hollywood Reporter has more details on the reasons behind the partnership

It was not much more than a day ago I was pondering why Disney hasn’t made a stronger entry into online media with its huge and popular library of movies, tv shows, and other properties.

It was not much more than a day ago I was pondering why Disney hasn’t made a stronger entry into online media with its huge and popular library of movies, tv shows, and other properties. I must have been channeling Bob Iger, because today in his speech to Deutsche Bank he said The Walt Disney Company was considering just that. Of course, Iger wants a subscription service and I think it should be something more akin to Hulu (paid for by advertising)
