For the last couple weeks, I’ve been hinting of an exciting new project. Behind the scenes I’ve been working to get everything show ready and now I’m ready to draw back the curtain. “Dispatch from Disneyland: The Fireworks Spot and Other Tales” is a collection of short stories, essays, and rare trivia written in and about my favorite place on earth – Disneyland

Ever since Walt Disney’s Imagineers started working on EPCOT Center, they’ve purposely hidden Mickey Mouse’s iconic silhouette shape around the Walt Disney World resort both as a way to entertain themselves and to reward curious guests who pay attention to the details. Fast forward 30 years and now those famous Hidden Mickeys are everywhere.

Race to Witch Mountain found its target at the box office this weekend bringing in the number one spot for Walt Disney Pictures with $25 million . This was also the second largest opening for a film with Dwayne Johnson at the lead (Scorpion King did $36 million). There’s little new competition next weekend, so Disney might strike gold a second time

Disney Preparations

Preparations for our upcoming Disney World trip are moving along quite nicely. I’ve finished making luggage and child ID tags. I use dark t-shirt iron on transfers for these. They produce soft, flexible, completely weather-proof, practically indestructible tags. We pin the ID tags to the boys in case they get lost. I also made tags for our wheelchair and stroller and personalized t-shirts for the kids. I’ve updated our ‘Ultimate Disney Guidebook’. I created this book a few years ago. It contains maps of all the parks, restaurant menus, park hours, our general plan of action and the reservation info. Besides being very helpful while in the parks, we have a lot of fun looking through it at home. I’ve even used it for school work in the past. This year I’ll also be adding screen shots of pages from Adrian’s device so he can communicate what he’d like to do.
