Wanted to make sure you were aware of three recently published books about Walt Disney World that are terrific looks at the details that make the magic we all love so much. The first two are from longtime Disney author Kevin Yee and the second is the second book from Chad Emerson. Walt Disney World Hidden History technically came out last year, but it is still making a splash out there on Disney fan sites

When I first started writing the vignettes that were to become the Dispatch from Disneyland stories, my goal was simple — share some of the magic I felt when in the park with people who couldn’t be there. I was thankful that Doobie gave them a home on Laughingplace.com where they found an audience who seemed to appreciate them. Many suggested I collect them into a book. Which is the goal of this new project

Hidden Mickeys Book Updated Anew

Ever since Walt Disney’s Imagineers started working on EPCOT Center, they’ve purposely hidden Mickey Mouse’s iconic silhouette shape around the Walt Disney World resort both as a way to entertain themselves and to reward curious guests who pay attention to the details. Fast forward 30 years and now those famous Hidden Mickeys are everywhere. It takes a real authority to keep track of them and Steve Barrett fits that bill perfectly

Disney Authors Head to D23 Expo in Anaheim

A couple of announcements today about Disney Authors setting up their own booths at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. Disney travel and trivia authors Steven Barrett and Lou Mongello will greet fans at the first Expo for Disney’s Official Fan Community. You’ll also be able to find the folks from Tales from the Laughing Place Magazine at their own booth

Monorail Crash at Walt Disney World

I heard the news of this a few days ago and I hesitated even including it here but decided to in the end. My sympathies go out to the family of the monorail driver. This is truly a shame as nothing like this should happen at the Happiest Place on Earth.

I was listening to the WDW Radio Show last week and Lou did a review of one of my favorite Hollywood Studios restaurants, Mama Melrose’s. Mama Melrose had been on my list to do a “Who is…” segment and, what do you know, Lou did an interview on his segment that provided me with the information to answer the question.
