Disney Dream Wins Critics Choice for Best New Cruise Ship

Popular Cruise Line information site, Cruise Critic , has named the best of the best in the industry and Disney Cruise Lines took home some bragging rights. Disney Dream was named the “Best New Ship” and also carried off the award for “Best Inside Cabin.” Disney Cruise Line as a whole also won for “Best Standard Cabins.” “Disney’s first new ship in more than a decade blends fantastic cruise innovations with the brand’s signature land-of-make-believe panache. A bevy of Princesses and a dazzling Disney stage show are complemented by the AquaDuck, cruising’s first “watercoaster,” a buzz-worthy French restaurant and seamless technological innovations like interactive artwork.” Cruise Critic editors evaluated lines and ships in 25 categories by comparing like-for-like, taking into account the audience to which each line markets, in order to highlight the very best cruise lines and their particular strengths.

What Disney got Right, and Wrong, with the Disney Dream

There was news this week that Disney’s 3rd ship in its cruise line fleet, the Disney Dream, has been sailing to near sellouts since its launch in January with an average of 3,800 passengers a sailing on a ship capable of holding 4,000. That’s good news for Disney Cruise Lines which has a second 4,000 passenger ship, The Disney Fantasy, coming soon

Just before the departed Castaway Cay on our way back to Port Canaveral, the crew of the Disney Dream treated everyone on board to a serenade of every song in the horns memory. Not sure if this was a special event for the Christening Cruise or if every cruise gets this treatment, but here they are recorded for your listening pleasure… nice view too, eh? Disney Dream Reaches Home Port near Orlando

A couple hundred Disney cast members, a bevy of specially invited press, hundreds of members of the public, and a few rather large rodents, greeted the arrival to Florida of the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet this morning – The Disney Dream. Port Canaveral will be the home port for the ship that has been under construction for nearly two-years in Papenburg, Germany
