The Na’vi Hometree on Pandora reminds me of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life. Of course, we can’t forget that Avatar is a sci-fi film too.

“Avatar Land” gets early mixed reviews

Earlier today, Disney held an Imagineering press conference with James Cameron to announce that an area based on the world of “Avatar” would be added to Disney’s Animal Kingdom . Fans around the world were quick to evaluate this addition. People took to message boards, social networking platforms, and the Disney Parks Blog to voice their opinion.

Sixth Baby Elephant Brings Cuteness and Joy to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Once again Disney’s Animal Kingdom has wowed us with cuteness and impressed us with the power of conservation. A new 311 pound baby elephant joined the park’s African elephant herd on Wednesday. Disney’s team of animal care professionals play an important part in protecting this endangered species and a new calf will help sustain the elephant population.

Disney’s Conservation Efforts in Uganda Payoff with 2nd Rhino Birth

In 2006, Disney’s Animal Kingdom made a promise to the future by sending two white rhinos to Uganda to help re-establish a white rhino population that had been extinct in the region since 1982. That promise continued to pay off today with the birth of ‘Malaika’, the first female white rhino born in Uganda in more than 30 years and the second calf born since 2009. Animal care experts from the Rhino Fund Uganda team have been closely monitoring the mother Nande and Malaika as they bond.

Disney Worker dies after injuries from accident at Primeval Whirl in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The Primeval Whirl roller coaster at Disney’s Animal Kingdom added another chapter to its troubled history after a worker injured Sunday while doing repair work on the attraction died today. That worker, identified as 52-year old Russell Roscoe of Webster, FL, died in the hospital this morning. Roscoe’s family and co-workers at Disney are in the thoughts of everyone at The Disney Blog
