Jennings Osborne, Holiday Display Creator, Dead at 67

This year’s holiday display at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be just a little dimmer. The bright burning light that was the life of Jennings Osborne has burnt out. Osborne died at age 67 from complications related to a heart attack suffered last year

Beware of the Fantasmic! Hiatus

A few days ago, WDWMagic.com reported that there were no Fantasmic! times scheduled past January 4, 2012 at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. This news broke my heart. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the show, it is sort of the original World of Color, a water, light, and fireworks spectacular with a few other fun additions.

Cockerell and Carter to switch VP roles at EPCOT and DHS

Some interesting news (via @Figgy999 on Twitter) coming from Walt Disney World’s theme park management today. Rilous Carter, the current VP at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be moving to the same position in EPCOT and Dan Cockerell, the current VP at EPCOT will be moving to the same position at DHS. I’m not sure what inspired this shake-up, but if it’s true, I have a few ideas about what it might mean

American Idol winner Scotty McCreery to be feted at DHS on Monday May 30th

Although the rumors were that the top five of this season’s American Idol would be at the park on Sunday May 29th, Disney just announced that the 2011 “American Idol” winner, 17 year old Scotty McCreery, will actually be visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Monday, May 30, 2011. McCreery will be the featured attraction in a parade that begins at 10 a.m.. If past events are any indicator there will also be a short ceremony outside the theater and possibly a song from the winner (that’s been 50/50 since the attraction opened).
