More details on Disney Vacation Club Firings

Jason Garcia at the Orlando Sentinel has done some excellent digging on the cause and effect of the recent firings, yes there was more than one, at Disney Vacation Club. As we speculated earlier , it turns out that former DVC President Jim Lewis was let go after failing to tie-up all the important details with Aulani – a new Disney resort in Hawaii that is half hotel and half DVC (give or take). But the exact details weren’t known until Jason’s article .

Disney Vacation Club Shakeup

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that former Disney Vacation Club President Jim Lewis was let go by the Walt Disney Company on Friday. Lewis had led Disney’s time-share arm since 2006

D23 Expo sounds like fun

To be honest, I’m not a big fan of D23. I think a fan club is the sort of stuff Disney should be doing for free. To tie some sort of merchandising to a Disney club cheapens the experience

Promotions Shake Up Disney Parks & Resorts under Tom Staggs

In a long internal memo today, Tom Staggs made official the organizational shakeup everyone knew was coming after Staggs took over the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts division. It’s nothing earth shattering, but it does flatten some of the levels of hierarchy that was said to frustrate Staggs since he took over

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts President of Worldwide Operations, Al Weiss, to Retire

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Al Weiss, the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts President of Worldwide Operations and a longtime civic leader in Orlando, has announced his retirement after 39 years with the company. At age 57, Weiss has spent his whole professional career with the Walt Disney Company. You can read his letter to the company’s employees on the Disney Parks website

Art Show Coming to Downtown Disney

More Fan Created Disney Dream Portraits

Last month I was happy to share a fantastic set of photos from Disney fan and photographer Duy Truong inspired by the Disney Parks Celebrity Dream Portrait series photographed by Annie Leibovitz. He even let me debut one of his new portraits via The Disney Blog. This month Duy is back with a half dozen new Dream Portraits including a new one featuring Peter Pan debuts today and is only available via The Disney Blog for now.
