RIP Dan Wheldon, Indianapolis 500 Champion

Besides Disney my other real fandom is that of racing, particularly open wheel racing. So as I posted early this year , I was very pleased when this year’s Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon was feted at Walt Disney World with a victory parade. It was with tremendous sadness that I learned today of Wheldon’s death in an accident at the Las Vegas race

While I’m not at Walt Disney World today, I was yesterday. The weather was brutal. Unseasonably hot and muggy with guests (myself included) stumbling around looking for hydration.

Disneyland Paris Accident – Big Thunder Mountain Faux Rock Fall Injures 5

Around 2:50 pm today, pieces of decorative faux rock at Disneyland Paris’ Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster attraction fell and struck guests riding the attraction. Five guests were hurt

Disneyland Paris Accident – Big Thunder Mountain Faux Rock Fall Injures 5

Around 2:50 pm today, pieces of decorative faux rock at Disneyland Paris’ Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster attraction fell and struck guests riding the attraction. Five guests were hurt. Four were treated at the park, however one ‘serious’ head injury was taken to the hospital.

Annette Funicello in hospital after fire nearly destroys her home

Mouseketeer and actress Annette Funicello has been hospitalized due to smoke inhalation after an early-morning fire at her Encino, CA home. 68 year old Funicello was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the late 1980s and has been rumored to be in poor health recently
