The Morning Report – Tuesday Edition

Clearing a few open tabs that I was saving for longer posts, but don’t have time to get to: Designing Disney is a relatively new blog that has been doing some great work looking at various Disney theme park attractions and locations around the globe. This week’s look back at expired attractions in Discoveryland at Paris Disneyland has some great details. The east coast doesn’t have a monopoly on Harry Potter, an unsanctioned Harry Potter Day at the park has been scheduled for Nov 7th at Disneyland

Disney’s Unbuilt Steampunk Roller Coaster

Designer Thom Shillinger worked at Walt Disney Imagineering during an exciting time. Unfortunately most of the excitement came from layoffs and projects that were blue-sky and never greenlit. One of those projects was known ans Project Meadow and Shillinger has put up some of his concept drawings for the attraction on his blog.

New concept art from Aulani, the lobby revealed

Pictured above we have a newly released rendering of the main lobby area for Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa. Disney Imagineer Joe Rhode has been dispatched to keep an careful eye on the project and it looks like his background will come in very handy. The highly anticipated Disney destination resort currently under construction on the Hawaiian island of O‘ahu now has an official name and a dynamic new Web site offering an inside look at the project.

Aulani is name of Disney’s Hawaii Resort at Ko Olina.

Disney just announced the name of their Hawaiian Resort and for good measure, launched a web site as well. Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, Hawai‘i conveys the connection of the new resort to the islands. The new resort is scheduled to open Fall 2011.
