The Muppets become Enchanted Art aboard the Disney Fantasy Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line just announced that The Muppets will make their debut on Disney Cruise Line in a new adventure game aboard the Disney Fantasy, the new Disney ship setting sail in March 2012. The adventure game will leverage the ship wide system of interactive art known as ‘Enchanted Art.’ Here’s a clip of three such installations filmed aboard the Disney Dream in January 2011. Throughout the Disney Fantasy, guests will discover creative and whimsical technical innovations – whether it’s mealtime, playtime or bedtime.

Disney Cruise Line Ship – The Disney Fantasy – Moves Final Piece Into Place

The Disney Fantasy may not be an exact duplicate of the Disney Dream, but it’s very close. Construction started on the Fantasy while construction on The Dream was still under way. So it may seem like work has been proceeding fast, but really, it is right on target for its March 2012 debut cruise

Disney Cruise Line – Cruise Industry ‘Firsts’ and Innovations

If everything goes according to plan, tomorrow morning I’ll be aboard the grand ship of the Disney Cruise Line — the Disney Dream. In the travel industry it’s what is known as a ‘Fam Tour’, aka the chance for press and trade professionals to get familiar with the new ship and what it has to offer

Disney Dream floats out of Meyer Werft dock

Early this morning near Papenburg, Germany, the third ship in the Disney Cruise Line stable, The Disney Dream, floated out of the dry dock of Meyer Werft in a special ceremony. I’ll miss my weekly peek at construction via the web cam, but look forward to seeing it in person when it reaches its home at Port Canaveral, FL. USA Today’s Cruise Log was there and has the dramatic photos and here’s a video from the other side of the fireworks: The full press release is below the cut: After 20 months of construction, the Disney Dream cruise ship floated out of the enclosed building dock at the Meyer Werft shipyard today, completing a major construction milestone.

Into the Wild, Volume One

When I first became a travel agent (way back in 2004) and immersed myself in learning about new places, one of the first things I did was watch the DVDs for the Princess Cruiseline Alaska Cruisetours. This was both a good idea and a bad one, as it gave me a very strong desire to visit a place I had never been (Alaska)…but also instilled in me that there really was no way to do it other than a Princess Cruisetour. And of course a balcony stateroom on the cruise portion was a must

A Second Cruise: Learning to Love Carnival

Recently, I’ve faced some interesting expressions when revealing that my fiance and I have chosen Carnival Cruise Line as the carrier for our honeymoon later this year, and despite feeling that I have the ability to explain our choice, I find myself thinking that people still don’t get it. Poor Carnival…they really do have a bad rap. They’re the party cruise line, man

Carnival Dream 2/20 – 2/27/10 ~ Western Caribbean We have been on Carnival seven times previously; this was our 36th cruise overall.  Embarkation – Port Canaveral does a fine job, no real delays, everyone keeps moving; on the ship in 20 minutes from the time we parked the car.  Got right on the ship and headed to Lido deck for the buffet lunch. Buffet – While there are definitely some traffic flow “pinch points” throughout the buffet, there were some very good food choices.  The Tandori and Deli stations on the back deck were excellent; the Burrito Bar (turned into omelet station in the morning) never had much of a line and was a nice option.  The Mongolian BBQ was a big hit, and the lines showed it.  We only did that once, but it was fun to pick your own veggies and sauce, etc.  The food quality was very good, with some items excellent.  Breakfast selections were limited, but that’s pretty normal on a ship buffet.  We never made it up to the Pasta Bar, but the reviews we heard were good.
