Walt Disney’s fascination with outer space has been evident since the 1955 Disneyland episode “Man In Space” and the X1 attraction at Disneyland. So it’s nice to see Disney keep up the tradition with a special space themed Mickey Mouse Clubhouse special. Yesterday, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse welcomed NASA astronauts Chris Ferguson, Doug Hurley, Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim to The Disney Studios in Burbank, CA where they greeted kids from the East Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club and gave a special presentation on their final space shuttle mission before the kids enjoyed a preview screening of Disney Junior’s new “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Space Adventure” special premiering on Disney Channel Monday, September 12

Welcome guest author “Neuron’s user Zoe55″ with a report from California Adventure’s ElecTRONica dance party: I enjoyed ElecTRONica. It’s something I think you should check out if you liked the movie Tron, or maybe if you even didn’t.

Walt Disney World is now more than a month into the seven-month rehab of Space Mountain , and details are trickling out about the changes in store for the venerable roller coaster. The resort last week filed a construction notice thought to be tied to the Magic Kingdom’s indoor coaster; it calls for the installation of an “interactive queue” and audio-visual upgrades. The notice has touched off speculation that Space Mountain could be in line for an electronic-game-filled queue similar to the one Disney installed at Epcot’s Soarin’ in 2007.

What will 2009 bring to Walt Disney World?

As I sit back and think about the year that was 2008, it makes me wonder how 2009 will develop. I am particularly curious about what will happen to my favorite place on Earth in 2009. Given the slow economy, I am not as optimistic about big changes as I might typically be, however, we can all dream.
