Nausicaa & EarthSea – Two Studio Ghibli DVDs are more timely than ever

I had posted on Facebook a few days ago how watching (or re-watching as the case may be) movies from Japanese animation master Hayao Miyazaki was helping me stay grounded while watching the wall to wall disaster porn that cable news channels had been serving up since the triple tragedy of the quake, tsunami, and nuclear reactor troubles. At the time, I was also working on review for two Studio Ghibli movies that bookend the Tokyo Animation Studio’s work. Nausicaa of Valley of the Wind was the first feature film Hayao Miyazaki directed after forming Studio Ghibli

Disney will be bringing another animated feature from the studio of master animator Hayao Miyazaki to the states in 2011. Arrietty the Borrower , which is directed by Miyazaki’s key animator Hiromasa Yonebayashi, is currently getting its English voice overs

Studio Ghibli Museum

A visit to the Studio Ghibli museum is definitely on my bucket list. The museum, which animation master Hayao Miyazaki created to showcase the art and architecture of his films, is located outside of Tokyo, Japan which makes it the perfect add-on to a trip to Tokyo Disneyland. Mark from BoingBoing recently visited Tokyo and took a day to venture out to the suburbs for a visit to the museum
