With Tropical Storm Emily’s track shifting slightly west today, it appears that Walt Disney World and the eastern part of the Florida peninsula are likely to encounter high winds and possible severe storms starting Friday and lasting through Saturday. Technically, the forecast includes a cone of possibility that could mean a direct hit for Orlando with strong tropical force winds directly impacting the attractions, but it’s more likely Emily will stay off the east coast of the peninsula providing great waves for surfers and some coastal erosion. No one knows for sure yet, but it’s best to be prepared

Around 2:50 pm today, pieces of decorative faux rock at Disneyland Paris’ Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster attraction fell and struck guests riding the attraction. Five guests were hurt

Today most of the major news channels covered the story of Tilikum’s return to live performances at SeaWorld Orlando. Tilikum was involved in the tragic death of a trainer just over a year ago. That tragedy resulted in huge changes for the Shamu show at all SeaWorld locations, including the removal of trainers from being in the water at the same time as the Killer Whales

It’s been a year since the tragic events that led to the death of SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau during an interactive session with a killer whale after a ‘Dine with Shamu’ show. During that time trainers have been kept out of the water both during shows and backstage having to do all their work either from the side of the pool or in very shallow water. Now some in water interaction will be re-introduced , but only in the medical pool that features a bottom which rises and drops to facilitate health inspection behaviors with the killer whales

Sad news coming from SeaWorld Orlando’s Aquatica water park. A 68-year old tourist visiting from a foreign country died after being found unresponsive on Roa Rapids, a fast-current version of a lazy river
