Disneyland’s Rivers of America invaded again for Pirates 4

With the World Premier of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides set for tomorrow night, final touches along Disneyland’s Rivers of America are underway. In addition to the New Orleans Square theater setup, bleachers are expected on Main Street allowing up to 10,000 fans to cheer on their favorite celebrities as they walk down the red carpet. Disneyland is even set to close at 5pm tomorrow night, a very early close for the park

Main Street Electrical Parade Halftime Show, 1978

While looking for that last Videopolis featuring Fantasmic from a Marching Band, I was reminded of all those Orange Bowl halftime shows that Disney used to put on back in the day. Searching for some of those I stumbled upon this bit of Disney weirdness

According to Disneyland, John Nicoletti has been appointed vice president of communications for the Disneyland Resort effective Nov.

Thrilling Amusement Park Proposed for Orlando

A group from Baker Leisure Group, a themed design consultancy who has worked with pretty much everyone in Orlando at one time or another, is proposing to bring a new amusement park to the International Drive area of Orlando. The park would focus on big roller coasters and other thrill rides.

Next-Gen is the not-so hush, hush technology project that is rumored to completely change the themepark going experience. Disney has apparently budgeted $1.5 billion, enough to build two new cruise ships, to the project

When you evacuate an attraction, how long should it take?

The 911 tape for the heavily reported on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey evacuation has been released . On it, one of the ride’s passengers claims they had been kept waiting 15 minutes in an uncomfortable position without any notice from ride attendants when help would come. Leaving aside how accurate the 15 minute claim was, I think the incident poses an interesting question to consider

Fallen Monorail Pilot Receives Tribute from Guests

The Orlando Sentinel has posted a very moving video of Austin Wuennenberg the monorail pilot killed in the tragic Sunday morning accident at Walt Disney World. The video was recorded just a few weeks ago when the Cimino family of Briton, Conn., took a ride in the nose cone with Austin.
