With the first weekend of the 2009 International Flower & Garden Festival in the past now’s a great time to look at some of the event’s many highlights. Disney starts work on Ko Olina, Hawaii Resort

The AP reports that Disney has started to prepare the construction site for their first themed resort located off theme park property that isn’t entirely a Disney Vacation Club location. That location, of course, is Ko Olina, Hawaii. MouseExtra found some additional concept art for the resort in the most recently DVC newsletter.

Theme Park Guy, whose mission is to visit and chronicle every theme park on the planet, has an extra-early report from the future site of Disney’s next theme park. As has been rumored for months, it will be located outside of Shanghai, which is on mainland China, and will be Disney’s third resort in Asia. Visit Theme Park Guy’s report from the scene and you’ll enjoy beautiful scenes of trees, farmland, and a village (which may or may not need to be moved to make way for Disney).

Daft Punk have agreed to score an update of Walt Disney Pictures’ 1982 film Tron. The film, currently in production under the moniker TR2N, revisits the vintage Sci-Fi hit, and shouldn’t be too much of a stretch for the French robot electro-rockers

Disney ends “Life on Mars”, fans will get closure

TVweek is reporting that Disney/ABC has told the producers of “Life on Mars” to wrap the show up with a 17th episode after chosing not to renew the series for a second season. This should make fans happy that they’re going to get some closure, but unhappy about chances to see how the American version would differ from the original British series when it entered new territory. Ironically the original series only had 16 episodes, but that’s the way they do it on the BBC.
