Very Short Monorail Expansion planned at Walt Disney World

Potentially interesting news from the excellent organization Monorails.org , mentions a new spurline to be added near the Ticket and Transportation Center. This short track extension will contain a new switch, a place to house a work tractor (used to push/pull trains that have lost power back to the shop), and enough room to park a reserve train to be held for when demand requires it. Whether this is a reaction to an aging fleet that seems to require more maintenance and downtime every day, preparation to an expanded Monorail system, or perhaps a little of both, remains to be seen.

Hurricanes and Walt Disney World

With Tropical Storm Bonnie passing close to southern Florida, although not currently targeting Central Florida, it’s time to check in on what you should do if Bonnie or any subsequent named storm should head a bit northward. First check the National Hurricane Center and see if your destination is in the potential path of the storm.

The Five Biggest Needs at Walt Disney World

With all the new DVC Resorts, what does WDW need to do? A few weeks ago during a quarterly results call Disney CEO Bob Iger seemed to imply that once the Magic Kingdom’s new Fantasyland is done and California Adventure’s remake is complete that will be the end of major projects for the parks, at least for a while.

Captain EO Returns to EPCOT’s Imagination Pavilion

This is the original sign from when the attraction closed 16 years ago When you think of EPCOT you don’t typically think Retro. After all it’s Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. And yet, there is something natural about having science fiction at the park in the form of Captain EO, even if it’s a flashback from the 80s
