For those familiar with the legend of Walt Disney the phrase Persistence of Vision. It was the name of a Disney history magazine, but also stood in for Walt’s driving force.

Matterhorn Movie

If you’ve been reading The Disney Blog for a while, then you might remember that one of the attractions I feel a close attraction to is The Matterhorn in Disneyland. It was the first attraction my grandfather Vic Greene was show producer on while at Imagineering. My mom remembers him in the dining room with others from work trying to figure out how the queue switch backs worked (there’s an optical illusion).

Original 1955 Disneyland Railroad Cars Reunited in San Luis Obispo

The Disney History Institute is out with their first documentary and it will make Disneyland Railroad fans weep. The first part of the video reveals 1955 Disneyland in gorgeous full color and includes a trip around the park on the Railroad featuring footage I’d never seen before.

2011 Disney Legend Class Announced

Among the class of 2011 to be inducted into the group of Disney Legends is a television host, puppeteer, a number of voice artists, and a hotelier. This group represents a diverse slice of Disney history and speaks to the large shoulders upon which the company stands today. The Disney Legends Awards program is a 24-year tradition of The Walt Disney Company.
